Buried with Christ, raised with Him!

What is Baptism?

Baptism is the first step of obedience following salvation. It is an outward profession of faith. By mirroring the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, Baptism proclaims to everyone that you belong to Jesus.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
(Romans 6:1-4).

Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
(Colossians 2:12)
Why should I get baptized?

To follow the example set forth by Jesus.

"
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." Mark 1:9

It is a command of Jesus.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

It is a display of your faith in Jesus.

"And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments." 1 John 2:3
Who should get baptized?

Every one who has believed in Jesus and come to salvation.

All people who recognize that
1.
Our sin has eternally separated us from life with God.
2.
No good works, religious practices, or social standing can remove that separation.
3.
The only way to remedy that separation is through faith in Jesus.

Those who trust in Christ for salvation should be baptized.

"So those who received his word were baptized " Acts 2:41a
