What is Baptism?

Baptism is the first step of obedience following salvation. It is an outward profession of faith, that mirrors the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism proclaims to everyone that you belong to Jesus.
Why should I get baptized?

To follow the example set forth by Jesus. 

"In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan." Mark 1:9

It is a command of Jesus.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

 It is a display of your faith in Jesus. 

"And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments." 1 John 2:3
Who should get baptized?

Everyone who has believed in Jesus and come to salvation.

All people who recognize that
1. Our sin has eternally separated us from life with God.
2. No good works, religious practices, or social standing can remove that separation.
3. The only way to remedy that separation is through faith in Jesus.

Those who trust in Christ for salvation should be baptized. 


"So those who received his word were baptized " Acts 2:41a

When should I be baptized?
